Adding Existing Records

Depending on the roles you have been assigned by your system administrator, and the resulting data hierarchies, the top-level hierarchy will vary. If your role is part of a research data group, the top-level hierarchy will be projects. Other hierarchies in Aperio eSlide Manager are clinical (cases), educational (courses), and Genie (Genie Projects). You can add existing records to those top-level elements (such as adding unassigned specimens to cases) or to lower-level elements (such as addition of unassigned eSlides to specimens or Training Sets) on the Details page for the entity to which you are adding records. To add an existing data element (child) to a higher level entity (parent), do the following:

  1. On the Details page for the parent, click the Add Existing... link for the child entity to be added.

  2. On the Add Unassigned... page for the child entity, select the child you wish to add, applying filters if you wish to narrow the list of data.

  3. Click Add to assign the child to the parent or Cancel to discard your entries.

The child entity is now listed on the Details page for the parent. If you add a child entity to one of the children, such as a slide to a specimen, that slide becomes the child of  the parent entity.
